bagThe Cornwall Optimists have five events during the year and play golf on the many wonderful golf courses in Devon & Cornwall.

We have one French Trip per year in the spring where we play on the best of the Brittany and Normandy golf courses.

Bude & North Cornwall Golf Club, surrounded by the town and the sea, is a challenging 18 hole links course established in 1891. It is located in the centre of Bude, on the scenic Cornwall coast, close to the border with Devon.

West Cornwall is one of the COGS favourite golf clubs. The course is a challenge and has no mercy on a bad or timid shot. It is a true Links course with fine turf and numerous natural qualities where hardly an unnatural feature offends.

We had a great day at Perranporth as we usually do. Just 13 of us turned up for the event this year . The weather was really good to us after the rain we had during the journey to the golf club and the wind was strong enough to give us that extra challenge!

Perranporth is a fantastic links course which was laid out by Open Champion James Braid in 1927. Perranporth is quite simply one of the best links courses in Britain. Senior Tour golfer Brian Waites is a regular visitor here and in his opinion this course is within the top 5 in Europe.

St.Enodoc 28th January 2011 PDF Print E-mail

stenodocWhat a fantastic day out and what a challenge! St.Enodoc provided us with a great golf course, fairly good weather, although a bit cold and as usual the hospitality and food were excellent. We plan to return again later in the year once we have decided on our 2011 events.

A great turnout of 25 COGS and guests tried to beat the course and as suspected not many did. 34 points won the day with only 4 players scoring 30 and over!
